Austen has been working with my child on coordination, muscle strengthening and fine motor skills for almost a year. Each activity she presents is both fun and engaging, and my son looks forward to every appointment. I have noticed marked progress in the above areas, which I know is a direct result of the forethought and dedication that Austen brings to each appointment. I especially appreciate that she provides this service in my home and accepts our health insurance. I'm so thankful for Austen! - Kathy Austen was absolutely amazing with our son! She was very patient and really helped keep him engaged and interested in the work he was doing even though he wasn't that thrilled about it. My son said "she is really nice and had fun games." We certainly felt like she had a vested interest in his success even after his therapy was complete. We highly recommend her! -Alexis Austen has been our daughter's Occupational Therapist for over a year. The changes we have witness in our daughter's awareness of her own body has been exponential! Austen's expertise has been paramount to the increase in mobility and language for our daughter! As parents of a 5 year-old who experiences Cerebral Palsy, we highly recommend Austen!" -Lisa |
Austen is a wonderful OT for children. She has a very patient and calming demeanor, which is critical when working closely with kiddos who have a lot of sensory challenges. I appreciate that Austen has no ego around the work she does, even though she has seen amazing results. When raising a child with special needs, parents often come into contact with therapists who believe that their way is the best and only way to see improvement and results. Austen understands that there is room and a need for various types of therapy to support a child's development, and seems to subscribe to a "judgement-free zone", which is refreshing. -Dawn After stumbling upon her beautiful website, I reached out to Austen for a consult about my three year old son. She attentively listened to my concerns and gave me 'screening' tasks to get a better idea of his skill level. We then met for an hour where she addressed each of my concerns by explaining milestones and best-practice methods and activities to support his skill development, all of which fit into our lifestyle. We have been using her ideas for three months and my son has made a lot of progress in his fine motor skills. Up until then, no one else had understood my (subtle) concerns. I am a huge advocate for asking an expert when there is a parent concern and I am glad I found Austen! -Leanne |
